India Monsooned Malabar Coffee (1lb Bag)

India Monsooned Malabar Coffee has an incredible history, just like its unique flavor. Known for having a sweetly fermented fruit with a deliciously intriguing musty undertone that is smooth, not bitter, Europeans used to go crazy for these swollen and yellowed beans during the 1600s. If you want your coffee to have low acidity, and a light body with a mellow and soft tang, the India Malabar beans would be perfect for your palate!

When ships used to sail from India to Europe, the Indian beans would be sitting in wet, damp climates underneath the ships for up to months at a time. Although the beans were not arriving in the same condition as when they were shipped, the Europeans still indulged in the Indian coffee beans – appreciating the strong aroma, but soft tones. Today, these beans are still some of the most sought after coffee beans from India.

However, since coffee is not transported like it used to be, the process is recreated. These India Monsooned Malabar Coffee beans go through a 16-week process ensuring that these beans resemble the beans from the 1600s. Picked during monsoon season in India, these coffee beans battle the rain and spend up to two months dying. If you like mild and fruity undertones and a soft age to your coffee beans, these India Malabar coffee beans are just what you need to start your morning with!

My Wife's Favorite Coffee
January 2, 2015
I have a friend who brought back coffee from India. It was my wife's favorite coffee. I fresh grind and brew her coffee EVERY morning. (I am a tea drinker.) When we ran out, nothing took the Indian Coffee's place. So I internet searched and found Gourmet Coffee.Net and you offered a few India coffees. I spoke with my Dr friend from India and he suggested "Monsooned Malabar." My wife said it tasted exactly like what our Dr friend brought back from India, and LOVED IT! Thanks Gourmet Coffee!

This coffee is great for the price. The beans look good, they grind well, they make a nice hot or cold brew. I'd buy it again. Shipped fast.

This my favorite coffee to drink, and I really enjoy the light/medium roast that Gourmet Coffee uses to prepare the beans. So much better (and healthier!) than dark roast! Everyone who drinks it says it tastes so good it doesn't need cream or sugar.

This is an exceptional coffee. It has all the boldness we love without any of the bitter flavor. A good change from what I normally drink. I highly recommend.

Good stronger coffee. I have been trying medium coffee tastes recently to see if I would like them too. I do.

Delicious coffee without any stomach upsets. It has a rich full bodied flavor. More than satisfied with the product and with the service.
Pros
  • Rich, full bodied but smooth, no harsh acidy taste. Does not make my stomach upset.
